Abel Systems

Abel Systems has been at the forefront of demountable system manufacture in the UK for many years and as such has earned itself an enviable reputation for providing logistics solutions to companies large and small throughout the country. As a direct result of its involvement with demountable drawbar combinations it has now increased its manufacturing presence to include the production of drawbar trailers to accept fixed bodywork, for which it can include many high profile users.

Due to the requirement for increased capacity Andy Hawksworth (Production Manager) was given the task to replace their existing Roller Conveyor Shot Blast Machine for a larger, more efficient, more productive and more reliable piece of shot blast equipment.

‘I needed to work with a company with a reputable product portfolio, a company who would listen and react to my explicit needs, a company who had many years of experience with this type of equipment with service and spares back-up and above all a company who would assist me to make a robust pay-back calculation to get the green light for the project. Out of numerous companies within the field of blasting I chose Straaltechniek and their STRRC 4 x 11kW 800mm x 600mm Roller Conveyor

Straaltechniek’s Engineering Applications Team quickly recognised that due to the size of our Tupton factory the installation would not be straightforward and even after pre-acceptance trials at the Straaltechniek Sheffield factory ABEL management were still worried about a successful install. The worries were quickly gone after a smooth fix-up and commissioning process.

Andy Hawksworth went on to say ‘we had to do some modifications to our false ceiling but other than that the machine was installed with no problems and has much improved our blasting performance and has exceeded our expectations enormously. We are now able to blast larger beams than we previously thought the machine would process and the reliability has been first class with 10 months’ of trouble free running’
