Straaltechniek UK Revolutionises Tension Control Bolts Blasting Process

TCB (Tension Control Bolts) manufacturers of Tension Control Bolts and the innovative Shear Wrench System who supply the worlds largest construction projects such as the recently renovated Forth Bridge, needed help to improve the productivity of their blasting production process and improve surface profile quality prior to downstream processes.

After consultation with a number of blast equipment manufacturers they decided to commission Straaltechniek UK. Straaltechniek demonstrated that the latest 400 Litre capacity Rubber Belt Batch Barrel Blast Machine with High Performance Long Life Blast Wheel technology coupled with optimised abrasive selection could significantly increase productivity and achieve the surface profile quality TCB required.

Ray Macera (General Manager) at TCB explained ‘From our initial meeting with Straaltechniek their approach and interest in our challenges stood out from the crowd. The professionalism of their presentation and understanding of our requirements, alongside Quality,Cost and Delivery commitments, gave us the confidence to make our final decision.

Straaltechniek UK’s Service Division reviewed our existing equipment and rapidly identified where there were opportunities for improvement with the current blasting operation. The adjustments and recommendations on our existing machine coupled with the prospective equipment performance enhancements on their new machine validated the decision to choose Straaltechniek as a strategic working partner’

Ray went on to say ‘after a successful delivery, installation and commissioning process the performance of the Straaltechniek machine measured against our existing equipment has been quite significant with blast times reduced by 50%. Based on this we have ordered two High Performance Long Life blast wheels to be retrofitted as part of an Equipment Modernisation Programme on our existing machine. This will ensure that we have matched capacity on both Blast machines to ensure they can operate in tandem. This will result in a win, win situation protecting the future capacity of TCB’s production process’

Jay Dorling (Sales Director) at Straaltechniek commented ‘there were so many facets of our operation which ‘ticked’ all the boxes at TCB. New and latest design of machine’s, High Performance Long Life Blast Wheels, years of experience and knowledge within the industry, service and spares back up and Equipment Modernisation Programmes (EMP) all contributed to what has been a highly successful partnership’
