Specialist in blasting media

We offer a complete range of abrasives and peening media. We are the proven specialists in this field and we will be happy to advise you about the right blast media and the ideal mix for every job!

Blasting media for every application

Within our group, we have our own completely furnished test blasting area with laboratory. Based on tests on your products, we will advise you which kind of blasting media, grain size and blasting process is best suitable for you. We can determine, for instance, the quality of a blast medium and the settings of a blasting machine. We can also compare the result with a blast norm (SIS) established beforehand. We produce a laboratory report and share our recommendations with you from all the tests to achieve the best result.

Shot peening

Shot peening is a special process where the blasting media has to comply with very strict requirements, grain size, homogeneity, sustainability and hardness to name just a few. Straaltechniek is the expert in shot peening and can provide you with perfect advice on just the right blasting media as required.

Official representative

Prolonging the working life by a factor of 5 up to 100 by means of shot peening is no exception to Straaltechniek UK who are an official representative for Ervin Amasteel.

Steel shot

For shot peening diverse components. Available to a broad range of specifications.

Steel grit

For blasting steel plates and profiles as well as deburring and cleaning of castings.

Stainless steel shot / grit

For cleaning stainless steel parts like moulds.

Glass beads

Completely iron-free blasting media to ensure absolutely no rust can form on the blasted surface. Applicable for cleaning, deburring, pre-treatment, surface and satin finishes.

Plastic media

For stripping delicate materials. Applications in the aviation and car industries for blasting thin-walled aluminium products.

Ceramic blasting media

An alternative for glass beads. Ceramic blasting media have a greater hardness, which produces less dust and waste.

Brown fused corundum

For removing rust, creating a matt effect and cleaning all sorts of surfaces.

White fused corundum

White fused corundum is the purest form of iron-freecorundum and it is therefore used in the electronics, turbine and aviation industries.

Mixed corundum

Consists of a mixture of white, pink and brown alumina, and is an iron-free alternative for many sectors of the blasting and grinding industry.

Black silicon carbide

Consists of crystalline silicon carbide, which is produced from silica sand and petroleum coke in electric resistance furnaces at temperatures of > 2.300 °C. Silicon carbide is iron-free, angular and extremely hard.

Cast iron grit

Angular particles are produced by grinding iron shot of larger diameter. It is used for aggressive surface cleaning.

Sibasiv

Sibasiv is bauxite calcined in a rotary kiln. It is a tough and iron-free blasting medium from natural minerals.

Olivine

For blasting very dirty steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Ideal to avoid the surface becoming too rough.

Garnet

For wet blasting building walls. Garnet is also used as a media for high-pressure water blasting.

Nutshell granules

For cleaning, deburring and stripping objects where the surface must not be damaged. Also very suitable for removing blisters after injection moulding.
